How Do We Fix All the Major Problems Impacting the World Today?
In 2015, the United Nations identified 17 major problems the world needs to solve by 2030, to ensure that humanity and all the other living ecosystems on the planet are able to survive and thrive on an open ended basis. The UN calls them their Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Unfortunately, a June 2024 UN report states that less than 1/5 of those targets are on track to be accomplished. Why? We would observe that either directly or indirectly, the common denominator for all 17 SDGs is that they all require money to bring about the solutions needed.
The problem is, when it comes to money, we are collectively trying to solve problems with the very mechanisms that created those problems in the first place. That is, the world’s dominant financial ecosystem was not designed to address the needs of the many, but rather the few – the few at the top of the economic ladder. That system was designed by the wealthy, for the benefit of the wealthy, and thus its very foundations work counter to our collective needs. As the saying goes, “if you are in a hole, stop digging.” Put another way, “Doing the same thing and expecting things to be different is the definition of insanity.”
So, in order to break out of the pattern we are in, we first need to understand what that pattern is, in order to then come up with a viable alternative. The reality is, the majority of money in circulation today originates as debt, primarily from banks and credit unions. That secret was first publicly revealed by the Bank of England in 2014, barely a decade ago. It is no wonder that most of the public have no clue about money.
Is that the only system available to us?
The answer is no. We do have choices and it begins by realizing we the people can issue our own money and use it to solve those problems. Fortunately there have been times and places in history where the people issued their own money and produced a prosperity that rivals the most prosperous economies in the world today. This website explores that concept in depth, and then presents a complete alternative financial ecosystem that we can adopt today, based on those previous successful examples. We can use that new system to solve our problems.
To begin to understand these core concepts, watch this short 4 minute video that explains where money comes from, why it benefits the wealthy and hurts the rest of us, and the alternative based on our issuing our own money and examples from the past where that worked.
